if you have access to a new one m8 just open your box take the ir connector pin connector off the board and put a new one in place, also try opening your box disconnecting your original give it a clean then re connect it.

Sometimes is due to crack in the solder on the IDC connector joint

i bought a new remote thinking it was that but it's not. I took out the sensor from the box and while it was powered up i could press the buttons on the remote from any angle but from close distance and the green LED would light up.. as soon is i put it all back together it stopped working again..

the other thing i noticed was that the standby button on the box was jammed... i've released it now but it still doesn't put the box into standby... i don't know if this a contributing factor or not..!

does anyone offer a repair service in ther midlands...??

Sound like a dry joint. Use a soldering iron not more then 25-30watts and heat the bottom of side pcb where the ir receiver is and add more solder to it. Do not hold at the same spot for more then 2sec incase u melt the whole IR which is encase in plastic.

it not the ir sensor that is faulty. it's because the connection is poor. that is why when you put it back it may or may not work due to the connection.

I too have dryjoints on my DM500, which is brand new arrived with dry joints on the IR board, I have WET soldered the old joints and still no luck, however when I use a heatgun on the PCB it works temporarily for 15 minutes I can use the remote, does anyone have any tips for me re-soldering the PCB many thanks.
