    someone please guide me

    Peeps, Im going nuts.

Ive been searching for a second box but cant make up my mind.

Id like a dreambox 600c pvr but seem pricy at around ?200.
The other option is to go for another eurovox 5100 which is a lot cheaper ?100.

I like the idea of a different model just in case something goes wrong with the euorovoxes at least Ive got backup. Im a little worried about nagra3 also. So ideally the dreambox but I need persuasion to spend that extra ?100.

    1) can the dreambox 600c be used to surf the net on the tv its plugged into? if so do you just plug in a wireless keyboard or something and a mouse. (Sorry if this is a stupid question.)

    2) does it have optical for sound, my eurovox doesnt.

    3) what would you peeps do in the same situation.

Many thanks for all your help, p.s. Ive looked at the ITGate but would prefer an internal drive and dont like the look of it either as it will be in the living room. Although the functionaility is good.

I'd get a DM600-pvr. You can get browser plugins for the images but not got a 600 so can't say any more on that.

You can get them for less than ?200, those are genuine models from Dream Multimedia. Check dvbseller.com and you can get a clone for about $210 + P&P.

An original dm600 will cost around ?200 but you could probably buy a clone dm600 for about ?130. The clone works just as well as the original but there is one drawback and that is the tuner on the clone dm600 looks as if it soldered to the motherboard so you cannot swap it for sat tuner if the cable side goes belly up. You cannot connect a mouse and keyboard to the dm600 to surf the web but you could do it with using the remote. Not sure about the optical sound but I would go for the dm600 but in my case it would just be case whether to buy an original or to buy a clone.

someones offered me a genuine one online for ?140, how can I protect myself to make sure I dont get lumbered with a non working box. the person seems genuine enough but are there any steps I can take.

also if I buy one online a clone for ?100ish should I opt for EMS or DHL shipping. DHL is a lot faster and a little more expensive but am I more likely to get charged extra by customs that way?

I always request sellers outside Europe to send via the normal postal system. Import charges seem to be much less or none at all.

To be sure of securing your purchase and any warranty pay by Credit Card, that way the CC company is jointly liable with the retailer for purchases of ?100 or more.
