    connecting to the net

ive read the sticky about getting the dream connected to the internet but im still having problems, its connected through my router ive given it its own ip and i can ftp into from my comp up stiars so i know its all connected, but when i go to the addon menu in dk it all i get is cant resolve host name, i then changed the gateway and nameserver to the ip of my router and it looks like it tries to connect but then comes up with nothing like the addon server is empty, anyone have any ideas

Make sure the router ip address is in the 'default gateway' section. Leave the DNS Server settings blank, the router will fill these in for you. If you have already put something there, just put 0.0.0.0.

Reboot the box using the 'reboot now' option in the shutdown menu. When it reboots, try to connect to the addon server again.

tried them and still not having it if i put nothing in the dns server as soon as i click on the addon menu it comes up with couldnt resolve host etc but if i have it filled in with my routers ip it seems to think for a while about 10 secs and then comes up with "couldnt resolve host.the given remote host was not resolved" is there any settings in my router i should be changing as even when i go in there and check in the lan menu the boxs ip isnt showing its got me totally stumped

keep gateway and nameserver the same and check if netmask has an address and if not get it from your router

Your router IP is not the DNS server. If you do an 'ipconfig /all' on your PC, you will see what the DNS Server IP address should be. There's no need to put anything in that field, the router will do it for you.

Do a factory reset and try again. Backup keys/scce, services/bouquets before doing so.

when i do the ipconfig/all the dns server is the same ip as my router 192.168.2.1 which is also the same for default gateway and dhcp server but if i go to my routers info page the dns address is 194.168.4.100 and the default gateway is 86.9.28.1 do you think these are the numbers i should try oj just do a factory default and start again

                    Do a factory reset.

Add router ip address to 'default gateway' section of network settings page.

Save settings then reboot the box using the 'reboot now' option in the Shutdown menu.

Box will have an ip address assigned by the router. Try to access addons server now.
