Probably your ip addresses are incorrect.

What is your dreambox and PC ip address?

we are having a similar problem, we have a green connection line from the pc to the router but not the dreambox. the error message keeps coming up and its saying that we're not connected to telnet or the ftp. any ideas? i think its something to do with the ip address on the dreambox but not sure how to find it? help!?

          Go to...

Menu-->(5)Setup-->(5)Expert Setup-->(2) Communication setup and confirm you have the Enable network box ticked also confirm your IP address is as it should be...

set your box ip address as below
                ip 192.168.1.100
                mask 255.255.255.0
                gateway 192.168.1.99
connect crossover cable between box and pc
set you pc address as below
                ip 192.168.1.99
                mask 255.255.255.0
                gateway 192.168.1.100
                and it should connect.

                  HI,

Thanking you a lot for your valuable effort to help, may i mention i am experiencing the same problem of activating my connection to my dreambox. i've tried all what i have in my pocket and many other tips and even advices gathered from many places i accessed for browsing. The result at the end was a real flop. I thought even of using a gemini version in order to use its possibility of testing directly my dreambox IP at each trial config. And what i got a mid green display, but that related to the corresponding root and gateway IP's.

May i add i even took off all the cabling. i, also, tried even direct connection between the box and the PC. This after changing and using different tested ethernet cables.

Finally, now, i am scanning my PC first before starting another action... It is the installation of router and local network. i firmerly guess it is the only and last solution.

                  Best Regards,

                  mbensalah

I can duplicate this error by disconnecting the ethernet cable from the DM500S or puting in a wrong ip address into dcc configuration. So make sure cable is connected and the ip listed under Dreambox is the same as the dreambox you are connecting to.
