    Problem with dm500c

    Heys guys, last night i turned on my dm500c and the screen was just black so i thought it may be time for a reflash but even using my serial null cable i cant communicate with the box. Dreamup wont even run the boot loader? is there anything i can do to sort this or is my box best off in the wheelie bin?

      If the box still boots up ok, do a factory reset and see if you can get it going from there.

      If it doesn't boot up, dreamup is your only hope. Are you sure your null modem cable is a null modem cable? Have you used it before to flash a box?

          thanks for the reply mate

          yes i have used the cable lots of times before

          the box wont boot at all, cannot even use dreamup

          do you reckon its stuffed?

              If no lights come on at the front. check your power supply. I've had a couple of clones PSU fail, they look like they work because the light comes on on the PSU block, but they don't power the dreambox.

              If you don't have a spare PSU, test it with your NT250 modem PSU, it works well, I've been running mine with a NT250 PSU for a good four months now and no problems at all.

                      well he says "test it with your nt250" i.e NTL 250 modem so virgin media unless I've misinterpreted what he means.

                          My ISP is Magnet.ie, I'm in Dublin with Fibre to the home.

                          I had a old NTL 250 PSU's kicking around, so I put them to good use.
                          Btw, you thought VM CS was bad, NTL.ie CS are worse!!
