Hi I Bought a dreambox 500s was told it had all software etc setup on astra can get channels but most of them are scrambled i dont knowhow to unscramble them

You will only Get FTA on Astra, as the rest of the channels are SKY channels encrypted with NDS, which is unhacked.

If you had a large or motorized dish you could pick up European channels that may be encrypted with Nagra1 or other hacked encryption which a cam on your Dreambox could decode.

So this means a dreambox is a waste of money in ireland if you already have freeview i was mislead by a seller on ebay

Thats not what he said.

You can point your dish at other sats or get a motorised dish that will do it for you and you can get all the European channels that are still running the old encryption.

If you were told you could get sky for free, then you were easily misled.

Why would you post this in the Cable section, there is a dedicated Dreambox satellite section further down the main screen on DK ?

A Sat one is to a certain extent, but bear in mind you wont Get sky sub channels..

A cable one is a different story.

There are other things you can do with your dreambox which could allow you to see what you are looking for.

Have a look around the net for more info. Look into the possibilities offered by some emulators like CCcam.
