Help a newbie! What channels can I expect to receive with a dreambox?

I've been reading for about an hour now but can't actually find anything on what channels I could expect to receive using a dreambox and am a little confused if I'm honest.

I currently have freeview running on my media center PC and also have freeview running through a virgin media box. I don't use the v box at all at the moment but is the cable connection any good for anything other than a v box?

I would really like to get some more kids channels and sports channels (if possible) as freeview is poor for these.

I am tech minded and reading on setting up and flashing the box will be a doddle but I do not know which box to buy and what channels are available on each.

Can anyone help please?

If you live in the UK,don't bother is the simple answer.
Vermin media changed encryption to N3,as a result all you will get are freeview channels,and not as many through the cable feed as you will through an aerial.
