Connecting 500C to Internet

Hi guys, just bought a DreamBox 500C and was wondering, if I plugged an Ethernet cable in to my computer and then to the 500c would that connect it to the internet or would I have to plug it directly in to my router?

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for this super box & what were you expecting it to do?

Hey, thanks for the reply! I payed ?70 for it and am hoping to use it to be able to watch things like Sky Sports! I am under the impression to do this I need to install things like the Kaos image and Emu's to decrypt the channels from my Virgin box.
