manual imput of keys

My keys have rolled on my dm500c, I havnt got a clue how to ftp and I have looked at the tut but I keep messing up somewhere so How do I imput keys manually

Managed to imput keys manually after a few goes, I would like to ftp files so that keys auto roll save all the messing but I'm scared of knackering box and not being able to put it right again, I have a null modem cable also a crossover ethernet cable etc but as I say I'm a bit chicken and how do I find out what image is on box
