problems flashing DM/500

Hi m8, i wonder if you can guide me thro how to flash a dreambox 500, i have followed the guide for noobs on the site but still no joy, i have got as far as raid share link into my documents but thats it. i cant or dont know how to get open the site manager and take the next step, how do i do this ? what is a FTP client do i need this as well ? do i just connect a ethernet cable from the box into a spare port on my router v/m btw. i am recieving normal bbc itv ect channels but no v/m i had these b4 so i really think it is something silly i am not doing, i opened a thread on this and was advised to take the box back to my supplier by 1 member D/K, but feel i would like to learn the easiest way to do this if poss, btw i can flash up any eurovox for cable with no probs but this seems harder, any help would be grateful and if you want to post this on dk no worries, but i feel i should bow to your superior knowledge on here eat humble pie and get going on DM/500 cheer's

Hi m8 i done 1 lastnight my 1st i used fxp not ftp, download the fix and save it to desktop ,connect with seiral cable and x over cable, get the ip address from the box ,click the brown flash in fxp and enter ip address in server or url,in user name type root,and password dreambox, click connect, if all is well wou will get info from the box in the right hand side ,click on var then keys ,on the left hand side click desktop and then click the fix and open it when you open it drag it across to the right hand side and that's it i hope this helps as i said i did my 1'st 1 last night.

Thanks chic, as i say i am new to this so can you tell me where i get fxp link (what is fxp). is it a normal ethernet cable or the rs serial cable used for eurovox i have both, any help is grateful guys cheers.

ok m8 fxp is flash fxp its a programme that allows you to transfer data to/from box there are a few others but well stick with that for now
you also need a ethernet crossover cable
and a null modem cable just in case it goes wrong
