trouble - box (dm500c) won't see computer

Hi everyone
I'm pretty new to this, and everyone who seems to know about dreambox's seem to be here. My problem is, I just can't seem to get the computer and box to communicate. I'm going in from the serial on the box to the same port on the computer, what am i doing wrong.

so, do you know how to flash in the first place?
Are you aware that you need to use dreamup, click connect first then turn on the power of your box?

For faster flashing, you need to connect LAN cable from dreambox to your router, set router IP address and tick the option 'use network ' on your dreamup.

What image r u using to do FTP ing if senior SGDVB images u can't do FTPing if not than it is possible u just have to connect your box & pc to router than use DCC program to connect but 1st u must know how to set your box to the appropriate ip or set it to auto & it will automatically select the correct ip
