Help with VM FTA channels

Hi,

I have been messing with my DM800 for a couple of days now, trying to get FTA channels down an existing VM line. I'm a bit stumped as to how to do it, does anyone have any pointers. I have tried the openPLi image, as well as a few others, but with no joy. The automatic scan shows nothing up.

When I entered 411 and 6952 into the manual scan I got a load of sky channels, which I couldn't tune to [and I wouldn't expect to be able to"

When I entered 651 [for Bristol] I got a load of channels described as "DK...." but they didn't show anything.

I have uploaded a cable.xml file to the box also, as well as a set of services from the DK download ares [swindon], but still nothing. The bouquets just gave me a "unable to tune" error.

I've even taken the card out of our working Virgin box and put it into the DM800 to see if that helps...

I'm experimenting more than anything to familiarise myself with the unit... however I'm not having much luck. If someone could give me a hint as to what I am doing wrong, or point me in the direction of a guide... I have trawled the cable forum, but not found anything which actually produces a viewable result.

Any help would be much appreciated... thanks in advance... just to be clear I'm only after the FTA stuff.

Hi again,

Sorry to "bump" this, just to keep you updated... I installed the DB units into the closed DVB-C network, it was for the olympics broadcast system... although their streams weren't live, I did use a test stream, and the dream boxes all picked it up instantly, 41 channels of HD sports.

My worry was that the boxes wouldn't work at all... but they did so, phew!

Anyways, I never did work out how to get anything out of my Virgin media connection, is there a simple explanation for this? i have a working VM box and smart card at home, it'd be nice to use a DM-800 for the HD channels and as a PVR, if anyone has any ideas...
