cannot flash

I can only connect a usb serial convertor connected to a null cable to my pc also computer only has com ports 3-4-5-6-dont know were com 1-2 are but I need to know what kind of null cable do I need tried a 9 pin female but no joy cannot connect 500c to pc to flash it

Have you checked the properties of your usb/serial converter to see what com port has been assigned to it ??
Should work if you have the right com port selected and null modem cable - no firewall etc recommended.

when I connect the usb it does say which port but it cannot connect tothe dreambox but what null cable 9 fmale to fmale does not work I believe this is called a straight null cable

just been informed my null cable is not woking must have a break somewere time for a new one many thanks for your help
