Do you mean to use on a PC using Linux to talk to other devices or do you mean on a PC with Windo$e to talk to Linux.

If you have Ubuntu then all transfer protocols are supported by Nautilus (the standard file manager) and you do not need anything else. If you don't like it then Filezilla is the easiest, that is available and it's available for Linux or Windo$e.

The most underrated programme for Linux is Gthumb Viewer, it is brilliant for making web pages from photographs. Just one example of outstanding SW for Linux.

Thanks mate, using yellow-dog linux at the moment which comes bundled with nautilus so thats a big help. Will have a look at it and post my findings in here to help anyone else who uses linux.

Also, totaly agree about outstanding software for linux. Can be tough when you get started but now i will never go back to using windows full time, will maybe try out windows 7 as it looks like its getting good reviews.

I used gFTP (I think its called gFTP ).

There's a linux version of dreamup and you can use minicom as a hyperterminal equivalent.
