anaogue area

hi there all,
im having problems with a dreambox 500c, were im trying to set 1 up is at my sisters and she apparently lives in an anologue area, would this create problems, if so then would subscribing to the net package cure this. as i have read that in some analogue areas they are using digital signal for the internet package,,,

would i still get the epg even if the cable wasnt live, im getting the full channel list, even telling me wats on but cant veiw... is this line alive or dead..

if the cables not live you wouldnt be getting anything as it wouldnt find any transponders to get channel listings.
after re-reading your 1st post, i would of thought if they are using digital signal for broadband, then they should be using digital signal for tv too.

so if i can veiw the channels in the epg then this means they are the channels that she can receive would that be a correct assumption, perhaps a reflash is in order.. also would a poor signal still give me channels in the epg but no picture on the channel. this is another idea why it possibly wont work...

a poor signal will certainly result in no pictures.
tell me, have you scanned at her house and found transponders? if yes then there should be no reason why getting the broadband service wouldnt bring you all manner of tv goodies.
but wait!!! it appears that virgin are only doing adsl broadband in analogue areas! this means no tv for your sis. i would speak to vm pretending you are interested if i were you and get confirmation as to what services she can get

yes and found 646 services, it even brings up all the channels and wats on. when i go on the channel it shows just a black screen...it doesnt say service unavailable..woud i get this if no tv service. i have inputed my postcode in virgin medias site and i am in an anologue area.... very strange... now its gettting more frustrating..

no. can view them, the way i see it if i can get channel list then they are there. in the brown box out side there is an isolator? never seen one before.. am i correct that after a scan the channels that come up are the channels she can get...

so you can view bbc 1? ok go to sky sports 1 and press and hold info button on remote for about 3 secs.
you Have got all the magic files on the dreambox right?

there is no sky sports they are the only channels it dosnt pick up.. yes i am re flashing it will be dw 1.6 or 2.0.. just doing flash erase.. i have the dk image but never had any luck getting it going.

ok go to any premium channel and start your cam. it seems to me that you are getting the tv signal

If you are getting FTA i.e. BBC1 and your scan has picked up the encrypted channels then it is a cam rom / key issue.
The images do not have these in by default in order not to violate the rules - you will need to add them it tells you how in the TUTs.

I know for a fact that a certain part of Manchester which is also analogue only and ive scanned for channels there, i've even taken my dream there and scanned and it finds a lot of channels but you can't view them all.

i.e He gets SS2 and xTra but no SS1

He still gets a good number of channels but nothing like the number we get in other areas.
