    null modem cable converter

    hi i have just taken delivery of my null modem and converter cables
    i have followed instructions for dream up,
    but cant get my box to connect?
    i am running windows vista and had no problems flashing my d2 box,
    is the box dead? the green light is on the front but no picture.
    can anyone help please.

    did you say you have used this same cable, converter and PC/laptop to flash your dbox2?

      no used crossover cable for d2 box

        did you not have any luck using the crossover cable on the dreambox?

        Where did you get the usb to RS232 converter from, is it a maplins jobby? It seems to generally be a case of drivers not working for these adapaters, I do not use one myself though..

          Like Caveman i didnt use the covertor either. You have to find the drivers for it which is a pain to do. Fortunately i had on old lappy that had the null modem connections.

            Make sure it is def a 'Null mobem' cable, might have got a straight through RS232 by mistake!
            Check with multimeter or continuity checker that pins 2 and 3 are crossed, ie: pin 2 at one end goes to pin 3 at other end and vice-versa!
