Where to buy dreambox

Hi

i am looking to buy a dreambox to compliment my virgin broadband and land line phone with TV.

I understand all i need do is buy a dreambox and plug it into the cable to allow me to watch all the channels.

Can someone answer the following questions for me?

Do i need a genuine VM STB connected for the DB to eork?

If i get a dreambox can i get it to work as a PVR (I know its only single tuner) and record to either USB HDD or my 2 TB NAS?

What HSD channels are available (if any)?

If i wanted PVR which box should i buy. Same question for HD if its worth it.

Where is the best place to buy from? I heard ebay is not too good.

Sorry for so many questions but i tried to ready the sticky's at the top and got nowhere!!!

I'm very new I'll do my best to answer your questions.

I don't have a DreamBox but I do have an OpenMedia box which works the same as a DB500. It works fine without a VM stb pluged in. I dont even have 1 as is i've only got broadband not phone or TV.

I think you can setup a 500 to record to your computer hard drive or a NAS drive but I've not tryed it yet as my hard drive is full.

I think some boxes can have an internal hard drive added but I'm not sure which ones.

In my opinion HD is not worth it on cable as there's only 1 channel I think.
