Only my 2nd post and i'm afraid i've already got a question. Just had openmedia box delivered and wanna start fiddling! I havnt got an rs-232, well i have sort of, but it is rs232 to ps2 (found it in a box of random cables i've got horded) with only 5 pins connected on the ps2 side. Does that sound like it'll do the job, just like the rs232 to usb does, or d'ya reckon i'm gonna have to take a trip to the cable guy? No way i'm paying ?10 at maplins but can't bear waiting for 1 to be delivered.
Just a little help please?

Cheers for the quick answer. Do you think its safe to telnet the new image onto it? Seen it stated that rs232 is defo the way to go for safety. I do follow guides carefully though so hopefully i'd be able to avoid any box frying errors. If not then i'll have another rummage through my old cables then buy one as a last resort (yes i'm tight). Is it safe to test out connection with various rs232 cables i may have just incase one turns out to be a null modem or could that damage the box?Comment

null modem is the same cable m8 and u r in the right section u can flash via telnet but ive never done it that waywe are all learning each dayComment

Is that because there's a high risk of it going tits up? suppose i should try via telnet as it can always be recovered by rs232 if it fails is that right? And can i assume its safe to test the connection with any rs232 type cable that i might find? I'll stop asking questions in a minuteComment
