    have i knackerd my dream box

    can anyone help i got myself a new dream box 500c .....when i bought it i knew it needed flasing......so i tried unsucessfully..dream up would connect properly.......so someone gave me the following advice ....This method will only work with a .img image file.

    * Rename the image file to backup.img
    * FTP the image file to the /tmp folder on the dreambox
    * Telnet to your box and paste the following command:

    To telnet, click START > RUN and type Telnet ip.address.of.dreambox (i.e. Telnet 192.168.1.100)

    A command window will appear, enter username root and password dreambox

    Then cut and paste this command -

    cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot

    press enter and let the box erase the old image and flash the new one.

    Now scan for channels or load up an existing services file.

    Then FTP the new roms to the /var/scce and keys to /var/keys folder reboot the box and that should be you. Go to ss1 and check everything is ok.
    Reply With Quote it didnt work......my dreambox is just black ive tried To ftp no response .....it wont even go to standby mode........Please help

    Your best bet is to flash a fresh image with DreamUP & a null modem cable.

      If dreamup doesn't connect then you're probably not using a null modem cable. It may well be a 9-pin female to 9-pin female but there are a few versions of this cable and it needs to be a null modem cable, not an rs232 or serial cable.
