the guys in ireland....... are you missing channels?

im based in dublin and have just noticed over the last day or two that there are a few channels that have gone missing and just give me a black screen, is this happening to anybody else in ireland? lots of channels are still working but more and more seem to be slowly disappearing,

just wondered if anybody knows whats going on?

is it time for me to subscribe to sky +

I'm a starview user and was wondering if the Dreambox is being effected by the move of channels to Nagravision 3. It's be great if some one could tell me for dfinite if the Kryptview still has all teh channels and why it isn't being effected.

Hi, I've just got a dbox up and running and a few channels are missing. I'm in Galway. This could be because I have it set up wrongly but a few (3 or more) movie channels are missing, also dont get Discovery channel...

Is En*Tee*El on to this thing and are starting to scramble stuff? I'm thinking of getting the Starview 4 - TheBox Super USB but if "they" are working on something to block this in near future there's no use...

Anyone have some details on this?

          Thanks,
          ThFonz

            ThFonz,
Am in dublin & have the sv4. N*L are migrating to nagra 3 encryption. Channels have been dropping all week a few at a time. There is currently no 'fix' for this and there wont be for a good while I would think, don't believe any rumors that nagra 3 has been cracked it's bulletproof. I'd hold off on the purchase of the SV4.

              missing channels

I have lost Sky Drama, Sky Indie, the Adult channels and a few sport channels. Everything else seems to be ok.
              Is there a cure?

There is no fix for N3, so far the encryption is unhackable and secure, as you may know satellite providers have been changing over to N3 aswell (none of the providers have been opened for over 18 months) all UPC Ireland cable is been upgraded to nagra3 including Chorus & NTL, its unlikely to be opened untill all providers change over on satellite & possable cable as well across Europe.

Also rumored that N3 could be as hard as N*S to hack and we have been waiting 10 years so far with nothing ever opening.

same here man im also from dublin and ive lost about 10 channels and they are the good channels aswell.Dont buy a new box as it would be a waste of money as this n3 thing seems as if it will kill all boxes.as for changing to sky+ you dont have to do it yet but i think soon enough most of the channels will be gone as we are losing them day by day!Its bent because i rang upc a week or two ago and they said they were gettin the hd channels in the summer and i was lookin forward to gettin the ex7000hd to use with my hd tv!!Why does it have to hit ireland first??

yes it seems that some more channels are gone

i was about to order a new box for my old man, thank god i didnt

as soon as all the channels move to N3, ill be cancelling my N*L subscription and so will everybody else that i have talked to because everybody knows N*L customer service is complete gash

sky is a far superior service IMO

wonder how long it will be before they will all be knocked off though?

UPC which owns NTL and Chorus in the Republic of Ireland with run both cable and MMDS television services in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford are due to be finished the upgrade to N3 by the end of July as there are other providers in the UK and in Europe all changing over N3, UPC who are based in Holland are working closely with Nagravision rolling out this Encryption.

What I am realy trying to point out is ... there not going to waist time and money playing around for the next year on Irish or British cable companys upgrading it to N3, this will be a reasonable fast process as there are much bigger cable company owned by UPC in other parts of Europe also rolling out the Nagra 3 encryption.

So is it just upc owned companies in the UK or are you saying all cable companies within UK will be switching Alun?

                          cheers

Well everything under the UPC umbrella with change rather fast to nagra3 in Ireland and I am sure NTL in the UK will be as quick, before they move on across Europe.

As for othere cable operators I do not know, but if Virgin join the party i would imaging the job will be finished before the winter sets in ! Virgin could be in talks with Sly who are interested in the cable market themselves so we could have NDS been also used on cable as well ...
