    DM500 Beginner question

    Hello

As you can see by my, obviosly stupid question I'm a real beginner.

I just got an dm 500-s installed at home. It's working fine only the picture freezes after about 15 sec.
When I change the channel it works again only to freeze again. Sometimes it doesnt freeze until a couple of minutes but it freezes eventually.

The guy that installed it for me says that my modem is the problem, we tried it with his modem and it worked fine.(I have ordered a new modem with a router from my internet provider, it comes next week)
But my question is if there may be a sollution for my problem. Maybe if a flash the dreambox it'll work. But will all my channels dissapear if I flash it?

    Thank you for your help.

Yep I have seen this problem with a modem on the same feed as the dreambox before - you can get an inline filter called and attenuator to stop the modem signals going into the dreambox.

Also check your cable feed m8 to make sure the cables are fine, look at the BER on the dreambox and try and make sure it's at 0 (zero).

Also just to check it's your modem & not your cable feed - try disconnecting the modem from the cable and then try the dreambox.

If it's the feed and your getting a high BER you'll need to get a cable booster to amplify the signal to the dreambox. If the BER is ok and at 0 with the modem disconnected - get the attenuator to filter the signal.

The original poster said he had a Dm500S so I am not quite sure why he has posted in the cable section.I would have thought that if it was a cable feed than the modem belonging to his friend would not work if it was a cable modem. I get freezes on my sat dreambox due to cardshare but on my cable box it has always been down to the softcam. BTW nice to see you online again mrdude.

LOL silly me for not noticing that he had a sat box m8, yep sometimes I pop in now and again - I haven't been messing around with stuff much in the last few months due to working and the bird moaning about me being on the computer - however as I have now been dumped by the bird I can get back to messing around - LOL.
