DM500 my DM500 cant start

HI all
am all new to this and dono much about it but i got my DM 500 -s dreambox, i only use it for showtime anyways i had a power down in my appartment and when i tried to start the reciever again it just gives me a black screen (nothing) as soon as i press power, and it doesnt load

so ive been told that i need to reinstall the software or image, how can i do that.

Same here, DM500C is DEAD.

All I did was to do a Channel Update and it took a long time to complete. Really the word DEAD was shown and followed by something like color format.....no time to take down message as signal to TV was lost soon after.

The GREEN LED was OFF, check power supply again and the LED ON.

Now only blank screen.

What to do, can try using DREAMUP. where to get.

power off then power back on & count how many times the leds flash.eg green 1 red 1 green 9 red 1 & so on then post back here those results.
Are you saying you can't use dreamup?

Did a power on-off but the LED is constantly ON no blinking.

Stiil blank screen and no response from remote control, cannot put box to standby even STANDBY button don't work.

Dreamup is the only answer. Sounds like the image has become corrupt.

I will take a guess & say your from SG if i am right you copied a friends image.
If so what happend was when you went for channels option the box checked the mac address when it didn't match it killed the box with this bit of code

  eraseall -q /dev/mtd/5

You dont need a new box.

Just download dream up and get a null modem cable, flash using dream up this will put your box in default status. Then you can flash you desired image after that.

Once you done that post back here for the finishing touches . " How to put the keys and roms e.t.c. " on

Yes, done the reflash and now search for tips on putting in keys and roms. I hope its just as easy as reflashing.

Will ask for help if still stuck.

Previously despdan was helping me throughout and now made some progress but he is offline now and I need advice again.

I have flashed a backup image supposedly with all service and channels ready. Connected and boot up to TV still no video and sound although the channels are there according to my TV schedule.

despdan advised to press BLUE button to check cam by selecting softcam. But there isn't any item by the name of softcam. It only has Dreamcast Internet Radio, RSS Newsreader, Tux Command, Teletext and Panic Button.

Pls help.
