    Bundle flash kits ?

this might be a stupid question but is there or does someone sell a kit including both the files , null cable and cross over cable. would make the hole process a bit more comfortable for first time people. if not thats ok but couldnt hurt to ask.

You only need to purchase the cables from fleebay and the files are in the download section. Or can be found via google. People should not sell the files.

You can buy thenull modem and ethernet from Maplin although they are a bit on the expensive side compared to ebay. The software is available in the downloads section here.

        THE TRUTH
        The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

If, for any reason, your box won't boot, you will have to use Dreamup to flash an image instead of Flash Wizard Pro or any other method. You won't be able to connect via ethernet so no ip address is required. It may be that the process simply hung up during flashing or you accidentally pulled the plug half way through (yes it did happen to me). This will get you back on track.

            • Null Modem Cable (this is NOT the same as a serial or rs232 cable, although it looks the same)
            • Image File (.img) or a (.nfi) file
            • DreamUp Program

            Instructions
            • Disconnect all cables from your dreambox, including the power
            • Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and to your PC
            • Load Dreamup.exe
            • Click Connect and you will see a message like this

            • Connect the power and the bootloader should be copied to the box
            • The message should now say 'Box attached and Ready'
            • Click Flash on the right hand side and select the image to be flashed

            • Click Yes or Ya (depending on the version)

Note: If you're flashing a backup image, select NO.
            • The image should then be uploaded to the box
            • There will be a countdown timer at the bottom of the program

            • After the image is uploaded, it will be flashed to memory
            • The finished process should look like this:

            • Click OK and close down Dreamup
            • Power off the dreambox for 30 seconds then power up
            • If any errors appear, check all cables are connected properly and repeat the process but do not use the PC while it's running

            Good Luck!
            thank you muito obrigada

DREAM BOX SAT RECEIVER 800 HD PVR NEW.

Thank you for tis information, it all sound easy, but I find after connecting to the pc the browser of the dream up, never asks for the location of my upgrade data, so i cant flash the box. Is there a place in the computer where I should keep it. I usually put things like this on the desk top, then when i am asked to browse I go to it no bother. chaslu

                looks like this.
on the contrary - many things can go wrong. Like there is no serial com port on your computer. You will then need to go buy also serial com port card. You might also need to at the last resort to buy a usb to serial cable. Though it is suppose to be unpredictable.

btw I have been trying for weeks with all the options - think I'm screwed.

Anyway - quick question is how long does it take for the dreamup to copy the files to the dm500?? after ""connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox"" not sure if I have given it enuf time???? I dont see any activity at all. The progress bar is at zero after 3 miniutes. !!!

                Any feedback will be appreciated.

                Thnx

a dm500s will take about 12 minutes to flash (in my experience) other dreamboxes take longer such as a dm7020 takes about 35 minutes and so on . i bought my self an older second hand dell computer that has 2 serial ports and 2 usb ports for €60 ,its great and works everytime. of course some dreamboxes can be flashed via web browser which takes only a few minutes which is the better option if you want to flash your box quickly. the dm500/600 are a bit trickier but here is a link that may help you flash your box using a different method.

                    Thx Bro PioPat,

First real response and advice I got from the forum. So thrilled. Posted many times but no help nor response till u came along TQVM. At least i know there are some kind samaritans aorund. Mucho Gracia !!!!

I wonder if the setting on my dm500c have anything to do with it? I scrolled through the settings on expert mode and saw a factory setting that disbaled serial com. I enabled it but have tried it yet. Trying it later, will update and see i can get more pointers when your advised link.

The above image is the RS-232 Null Modem Cable. Looks similar to straight cable, I did some research and realise there's a difference between straight cable and null modem cable. The internal cabling is different and it's different pin from one end to another. Just my little bit of info after researching, clarifying the doubts. Some vendors will tell you that serial straight cable is exactly the same as null modem, but it's not.

your better off using an older version of dreamup for boxes like dm500s/c . but you will need the newer versions of dreamup for the newer dreambox models. you should find an older version that suits your box in link 2 in my signature area .
