thks for the instructions. i have a problem scanning new channel using the set-top(dm500c) itself without using computer. whenever i select the menu setting it promt me a 4 digit pin which i dont have, do anyony know the default 4 digit pin? or how can i reset it? thks

try 0000 or 1234 , maybe 1111 or 4444 or 5555 ,failing getting a pin to work you will need to reflash the box and that will sort it .

I always use 7777 since it was new. Always worked on my 500c.

no luck . had tried 0000, 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 7777, 8888, 9999, 1234 all incorrect pin. i think need to reflash. thks for your help.

you will have to reflash so mate ,it will cure the pin problem but a refash will wipe all your settings.

pls advice which software tools (if dreamup, which version?) n which image (DM500 Power of Dreams 4.1 ?) should i use to reflash dm500c.
And also which null modem cable should i use,
1) null modem without handshaking
2) null modem with loop back handshaking
3) null modem with partial handshaking
4) null modem with full handshaking

just a regular null modem cable will do ,for a dm500 any version of dreamup should do, any image for a dm500c (that is clone safe if your box is a clone and that will work on cable in your area) try link 2 in my signature area that contains images and dreamup for the dm500c. link1 also contains dreamup.

is it possible to use PC with win vista or win 7 to reflash or only can use PC with win xp with any service pack.

an older pc with a 9 pin rs232 port and windows xp will flash all boxes that i know of via a null modem cable ,vista has driver compatability issues ,the reason its a problem is vista computers or newer and dont have a 9 pin rs232 port and so a usb to serial adaptor is needed (the adaptor needs a driver to work this is where you have problems ). you can flash a box via your browser using vista ,but as i have never flashed a box that way i really cant advise on that method .

Click Yes or Ya (depending on the version) ..... how?

• Click Flash on the right hand side and select the image to be flashed
• Click Yes or Ya (depending on the version)

Note: If you're flashing a backup image, select NO.
