U just connect the box toy our modem and away you go?
In that case do I still need a card for the box or is the box its self enough?

The lad next door said he has his set up just connected to his internet but pays ?30 every quarter for a card.

Im really confused by it all to be honest.

You would need to connect to a cardshare server in order to get this working. Unfortunately there are very few available carrying the VM cable service and discussion of such things on UK forums tends to be either forbidden or higly restricted.

I'd guess your friend may be using a starview box, in which case he's quite lucky if he's still getting any form of service.

          Sorry and thanks

My freond is definately using a dreambox.

Without CS, how do I receive channels by just connecting to my modem?

Note: I have looked around the forum but there are that many topics its pretty hard finding where to start.

you should read my posts in this other topic, related to virgin and dreamboxes.

it should answer some of your questions. and yes, you may need an active subscription of virgin (tv OR internet) to receive a signal to your house, which you can split the cable and use one of the cables going into the dreambox.
