Old setup box with new TV

    Hi Guys,

I have been using a DM500C for the past few months with no problem. Recently got a Samsung LED Smart TV but here come the problem. The new TV has 4 HDMI ports and a connector with a jack that connects the component/composite cables. The connector has got 5 colors split into 2 wires (Green, Blue, Red) + (White, Red).

The DM500C only has a RCA output (Yellow, White, Red). When I plug in the RCA cable to the TV connector, I get audio but black and white images. It is not the cable or dreambox problem as it all works on the old TV. It is also not the new TV problem as I can use HDMI cable to connect my Mio set top and view football.

I would like swap the RCA cable with a HDMI cable. I have seen some cables that have a RCA (Yellow, Red, White) head on one end and a HDMI head on the other. Would this type of cable work? Most of the shops have a RCA (Green, Red, Blue) head and a HDMI head. Does the color make a difference in this case since it is just a cable?

I understand that I would not be getting HD quality images by swapping the cables and that a RCA-HDMI convertor is needed to do so but I just want to get a standard definition image on my new TV.

Would anyone be kind enough to advise?

Use the SCART adapter from TV to the standard RCA. No point u use the HDMI to RCA adapter. Unless your DM set is the HD set.

DM500c clones from China Scart is juz for show, it doesnt hv rbg/red-white (component) connection. the composite output r mere direct connection to the RCA points.

As for connection to TV, try get a connector that has RBG + Yellow and red-white adaptor. It is avlb but must buy as an option. No way to get HD (digital data) quality from RCA (analog data) output.
