DM500C system date incorrect & waiting for time error

I am new to all this and have been struggling for a few days. I have tried various images. I want to use Commando but have tried 14.6 and 14.7 but the system date is incorrect. I have updated using the date -s command in telnet but it still defaults back to the incorrect time on reboot. I can't see any free channels or anything. It says "waiting for time" and then no channel found.

I have also tried the DK v1.1 image. This allows me to wastch FTA channels but I get stuck as to what to do next.

Any help will be appreciated.

Try a reflash, if still no free channels showing with commando, then maybe a tuner driver issue?

Can you give more details on your box, if it is a C version as you quote, then you will need a cables.xml file then a scan.

It is the cable version and I have tried reflashing several times with both 14.6 and 14.7 version.

Its cant be an issue with the virgin cable since the DK v1.1 gives me the freeview channels. I also have the cable.xml file.

Any other suggestions as to why commando is not working? I keep getting the waiting for time error.

I was thinking its something to do with the fact the incorrect date. It defaults to June 2012. I have manually changed this with telnet but whenever I reboot the box it defaults back to June.

I have an identical box which I have purchased through a chap and have to pay to renew every year. Thats working but I want to try out myself so I don't have to keep paying him. How does that work through virgin media and mine isnt?

How can I get this to work in Birmingham UK?
