    BBC-HD Recording

    Hi all,

I'm trying to record BBC-HD to a CIFS Mounted folder on my PC using my DM500C.

I can get it to record fine, but the picture is all blocky & pixelated. All other channels are fine, and I my PC can playback any other H264 & MPEG2 TS HD material just fine.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

The DM500 was not intended for HDTV broadcasts, the processor simply can't handle it.

You can stream over ethernet as you've found out but that's not idea either. If you use an ethernet cable instead of wireless it might be better.

That's what I'm going for, recording via the network as I know the 500c cant playback those resolutions. Also, my 500c is connected to my router via ethernet, so I thought it should be able to record fine.

Are you saying that you can view BBC-HD using your non HD Dreambox500c?

          No.

I have my 500c connected to my PC via ethernet. I have a mount on my Dreambox which is pointing to a folder on my PC. I set up a timer to record BBC-HD to the mount. All the dreambox does is send the .TS straight to my PC so I can open the TS with my PC, not the Dreambox.

I have also noticed some 'blockyness' on other SD recordings. I don't think it's a signal problem, as I don't see this when I'm watching channels.

edit: I'm almost there. I have got the stream recording better & I can now view it via the web interface. Still too many stream errors to make it watchable. Any ideas as to how I could improve network performance to make this watchable?

For anyone else who wants to know, i increased the rsize & wsize on the mount to 65535 and installed an NFS Server on my machine instead of using CIFS
