Macrovision, Dreambox, Location Free player conundrum

    Hi guys and gals.
I watch my dreambox 80% of the time on the road through my psp and a bit of hardware by Sony called 'LocationFree Player'.

It works seemlessly, but then I thought to myself 'hmmm I'll get a s-video cable for my PSP-2000 and output the signal to the hotel tv so I can watch the football with friends on tour and not just by myself. The S-video cable works perfectly for everything accept LocationFree player which just gives me a blank screen.

I called SONY up and they literally had no clue about there product, I got fedup and gave up on the idea.

Nearly a year on and I came across this Sony eSupport - LF-PK1 - News & Alerts

Under 'Will the PSP? (PSP-2000 series) output all signals to a TV?' it explains that if Macrovision is on, no output will be displayed on the TV from the PSP... (Im guessing the signal has macrovision on as this must be the only barrier in my way and nothing else is explained)

are there any works arounds? like relaying the signal without Macrovision or simply bing able to turn it off?

I realise this isnt a common problem but it would make life a hell of a lot easier if I can resolve this problem (especially in time for the Champions League Final)

    Many Thanks In Advance

EDIT: Seems as though any encryptian is going t give me problems. Does anyone have a workaround? would it change if I ran the dreambox through another device like a vcr and then connected the vcr to the LF-PK1?

Are you sure its the signal which is using macrovision? Or is there a macrovision option actually enabled on the sony hardware?
An easy way to confirm this is to try a channel other than a premium one. Does BBC1 or ITV work when connected to the tv?
I believe macrovision has a fee and so would imagine its only used for premium services. Using macrovision for every channel would be very costly.

    ps. have you considered slingbox?

It seems its just any encryption (Im guessing as Virgin uses Nagra 1). I have considered slingbox but sadly its not compatible with PSP. Im going to try a few things tonight and see if I cant bypass it somehow

Virgin don't encrypt stuff like BBC1, ITV etc. If these aren't working then its your locationfree settings imo.

Before I request for thus thread to be closed I thought you might be interested in how I resolved my issue...

OK... I resolved the issue after a year or so of trying to figure out what was wrong. I know a huge amount of users have had the same problems so I'm glad I figured it out...

          1. put dreambox on a encryption free channel like bbc
          2. start up location free player on psp using your s-video cable plugged into tv display
          3. it should display the encryption free channel
          4. now with the onscreen remote on psp flick through all channels (they seemed to index themselves and became encryption free)
