Dreambox 500 Smartcard Support

Is there a way to program a DM500 to use a smartcard? I mean do you have to do something special with it? Im running the Gemini 4.60 image.

For example can you use a funcard with the DM500?

down load the newcamd pack on to your box then log in to box goto var/tuxbox config i think it is and look for a file cardserv.cfg you can use dcc for this as it will let you edit it while you in there right click on it and click edit then put this line in making sure you change the 00 tile what ever you box key is then save it put card in to box go to cam menu start newcamd card server then start newcamd and it should be working you might have to start it in telnet but there is stuff on here in a post how to do it BOXKEY = 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

I followed what you advised but it didnt work.
I programmed a funcard with cas3 programmer,
ftped to /var/tuxbox/config/newcamd/ dir using DCC and edited the "BOXKEY =" line with the boxkey number that I got from the C&W_CHAOS_FUN_FIX_271108.HEX file,
Restarted [Newcamd-Cardserver 6.10b], but it didnt decode anything...

Did I do anything wrong? Or is there no hope of using DM500 with a funcard. By the way im using a funcard 2 (Prussian 2)...

have tried this with a fun4, atmega, tit2 and opus wit no joy, use a rom 10 or 11

It just so happens someone today gave me 2 NTL smartcards to play about with. Ones got written NTL in big bold, and the other the same but with "digital smart card" written underneath the NTL Logo.

Two questions really...

1, how do I tell if it is a ROM 10 or 11?
2, Can I use my Cas 3 to progam? and how?

download nagraedit 4.1 put ur programmer into pheonix mode dont forget to connect serial comm cable, pop in card
open nagedit click on reset, this will tell u wat rev ur card is.
these cards are prob locked so dunno how much we can go into unlockin em here as per rules bout cc equipment
