DM800 Help with reset of DM800HD to default settings without OSD

    Hi Seniors

Just bought the DM800HD se for Singapore. While setting up the box I inadvertently selected HDMI-PC for the video output. Now my TV shows a "Mode not supported" msg. I am unable to access the OSD to enter the setup page and revert the video output to the default HDMI.

The box boots up to the Dream splash screen, then it all goes blank. The OLED screen on the box is also blank and the blue light also goes off soon after. Don't see any response to the remote control either. Could not find any info in the user manual regards a reset using hard keys. Everything refers to the OSD.

The supplier suggested a re-flashing of software to get the box back to factory settings. As I did not backup my keys or scce files yet, I am reluctant to take the drastic step of re-installing the firmware in case I screw it all up.

I hope some experienced user can help me understand how to reset the box to its original setting without going through the TV or having to re-flash the box. I am sure there is some key-press combination or hard wired reset button somewhere.

Would really appreciate any help and kudos to the dedicated users on such a great forum.

    Cheers.

You can try to backup your keys and scce files. They exists in the directories /usr/keys and /usr/scce.

Create 2 diectories in your PC (eg: C:\Dreambox\keys and C:\Dreambox\scce). Then from a Command prompt:

    CD C:\Dreambox\keys
    ftp <ipaddress.of.your.dreambox>
    bin
    passive
    prompt
    cd /usr/keys
    mget *
    exit

Repeat the above for the scce files.

Flash your box...search forum for the howto. Remember to install the EMU CAM (eg cccamd, mgcamd, etc).

Now restore the /usr/keys and /usr/scce files back to the dreambox. Reboot.

Note if you are not familiar with using Linux commands, you can also backup the /usr/keys and /usr/scce files with WinSCP program.

    Cheers

      Thanks tuxpower.
I will try out once I get home on Sunday. I assume that the box will be accessible from the PC as an external USB drive with all files visible.

I am still hoping there is a simple hard reset procedure to put the video output into the basic HDMI or RGB format, so at least I can view the boot process on the TV.
