You should find how to set up a dreambox if thats what you buy ( although it will be clone as they dont make them anymore IIRC ) on the red stickie threads in this forum.
Theres some real easy to follow instructions in them.

I am assuming that you live in a cable area?? If you do then you will be able to buy a box that will allow you to watch all channels which are shown on that network. This includes all sports, movies, adult, ppv boxing/wrestling etc. You cannot purchase/view vod event though (i.e. order a film or watch sky sports interactive). imo the kryptview is the best plug and play box on the market by some distance.
the dreambox (which is where you have posted this thread) allows you to watch all the same channels but also allows you to record to your pc or stream over a network. a little more work is required to set up these features though.
if you are not in a cable area then your only other option (apart from freeview) would be satellite. dont have a sat but if you read/post in that section you will get all the info your after. without cardshare though you wont get sky sports to the best of my knowledge.
hope this helps.Comment

OK i presume I am in a cable area as next door to me they have virgin media television, does that mean I am in a cable area? So I buy this box, all i have to do is connect it to the tv, do a search/scan for the channels and then they will be on there forever. thanks for your helpComment
