Control of my DM600 via the net from my Nokai N95

    Guys

I can log in remotely into my DM600C from anywhere in the world now (tried it in Palma the other weekend), but I do not seem to be able to do very much. I get a reasonable PLi interface to view and almost all the functionality appears to be listed there.

However all the functions seem to be inactive and selecting them does not do anything. I am not trying to stream movies or stream to TV to my phone just yet (looking into it), I was just wanted to be able to view the EPG and set up timer events while I am on the road and do not have a laptop with me (like when I am on the piss or just don't wanna get mugged).

Has anybody else here been playing with this side of it, I also found that there is no VLC port for Symbian OS. They have one for Yopy, WinCE/Pocket PC, iPAQ, Zaurus and other linux based PDA.

Its just another gadget to play with and makes it more geeky (right up my street)..

[edit] just read back a page or so of post and seen that some others are having simliar play... Did not mean to replicate, just had not signed in for a few days and sat down for a thorough read before i posted..]

[edit2] just found this, anybody familiar with it? gonna try, might kill my phone so gonna back that up too..

    Thanks

    Cavey...

    Good luck Cavey!

Would be good if this worked on phones aswell as PDa phones.

Try logging into the webinterface using a PC (outside your home network) and see if you can use the functions. If yes then looks like a problem with the phone.

No probs with the interface on a PC outside my network, I ponce about with it during the day while I'm at work setting timer events to record all kinds a crap. Just wanna get more functionality via my batphone. I know its not important but its a nice conversation piece with my fellow techies at work. You understand its a bloke think, gadgets whether they are useful or not, we just gotta have em..

Have you tried using something like logmein on your phone. I use it with my pda to get remote control of my desktop pc while I'm out and about. I then just open my desktop browser to add timer events etc.

Can't find much info on their site about Linux and Symbian compatibilty. It appears that it is a PC and Mac product. If anybody feels like trying it, lets us know how you get on..

[edit] this Logmein or LMI as there locals called it only works on mac and windows PCs, you cannot control a target linux box although you can use a linux box to control a mac or PC. Also seems a bit risky that any target machine i designate will end up in some massive botnet used for attacking the Pentagon etc etc... Hmm will not try this app me thinks...

            Keep on trucking..
