Plug in the power supply again. Check the adapter(not the box) there should be a green light indicating power on. If its lit up, give a light tug at the plug to the box. Its just loose connection but once a while the power goes off and I have to tug the plug behing the box.

It happened to me once and this solved the problem. Need to buy new power adapter to completely solve this problem though.

If the PSU is the problem,
        Buy one in Argos,
If it doesn't work you can always return it for a refund.
A lot cheaper than returning the DM to Monkey
        Cheers,

how do i return items to dvbmonkey? are BuyingThings.co.uk - The Online Store agents for dvbmonkey?

after emailing them and filling out pointless forms over their help service I still get no replies.

As a UK consumer can i do something about this? This really is daylight robbery.

Any1 thinking of ordering from this company please think again as they do not care about customer service.

          thanks for your input.

                How did you pay?

If it was with paypal you can open a dispute and get the return address from them. If you send it back make sure its by courier or Special Delivery.

Paypal will refund on proof of Delivery.

i contacted the seller thru paypal and got some wort of a result:

Zhang QingMin (dvbmonkey seller @ paypal) replies:

                    "Dear,
It was our sales department that not contact you about it in time.
Now we had told them to reply to about exchange it.
                    Best regards,"

so in order for the item to be returned the only way seems to be thru paypal dispute.

Hi. DVBMonkey are bad news. I bought 5 boxes from them and had a problem with one box. DVBMonkey instructed me to send it to BuyingThings with a UK address. That was the last I saw of the box. DVBMonkey refused to answer emails.
Is the power supply OK? You could use a meter to chack that it is outputting current. If not you may be able to get another power supply from ebay.

I have ordered more boxes from DVBSeller. Again I had a problem with one box. It refused to flash. DVBSeller instructed me to remove the motherboard and post it to an address in China. They did eventually (4 weeks) send a replacement board which worked perfectly.

I would advise you to definitely NOT send the box to DVBMonkey. You will waste the postage cost and probably never see the box again. Use DVBSeller if you are going to order any more boxes.

May have to go down the dispute route through paypal myself!

I also bought a DM500 from dvbmonkey which was faulty. They advised me to send it to buyingthings to repair or replace, for which i had to pay ?20 which is fully refundable if they find a problem with your box within the warranty period. After months and months of waiting and no replies to emails, I did finally get a replacement box. But to date still no refund. I have emailed several times and they have never had the courtesy to reply. I've just really written it of until now as ?20 quid lost! But why should they get away with it! Seriously their customer service is really sh**e! worst i have dealt with for ages.

I advise anybody to steer clear of them both!

Its getting terrible the amount of people on these forums being ripped off by these people. DVBmonkey is obviously the chinese exporter who has a uk reseller under name buyingthings and from the number of threads of people complaining on these forums and lots of others I would highly recommend you do not buy from these cowboys.

I know some of my returns took time in getting the replacments to me, but when you know it can 2 weeks for them to recieve the return then few days fixing or replacing the unit, then another possible 2 weeks for me to recieve again, 3 weeks wait is understandible. there are still a few good quality sellers od Dreambox out their who still give "acceptible" aftersales services....but dvbmonkey most certainly is not one of them.

did you try the power supply then?, 9/10 thats the prob on these when theres no power, theres a fuse insde which blows, but just try another supply see if it works, bet it does.,, just make sure its the same ratings.
