    DM800 Totally confused about DM800SE

I'm new to Dreamboxes and I've been going thru the forums trying to digest all the info, but the more I read, the more confused I got!

I get the impression that it's best to get the DM800SE since it's well supported here. Prices for this I've found range from US$195 to US$250. However, it seems like not all DM800SE are the same, each with subtle differences and configuration setups?

    Things like:
    - Sim 2.1
    - Original sim A8P
    - Rev D6
    - Built-in 300mbps wifi
    - AutoRoll key pre-installed
    - Plug & plug, no need AU smart card & software settings
    - Satellite vs cable receiver - are they the same thing?

Which are the important bits to look out for to have it work with Starhub?

I also read about Starhub possibly doing a N3 upgrade this year? Does that mean no point getting the DM800SE?!

Would appreciate advice from the seniors & experts here. If you have trusted sellers to recommend, please PM me.

    Thanks!

I Have a DM800HD for more than 6 mths and was trying to learn from this forum.
Sad thing is that there are too much (overloading) information and got me very confused too.
It will be good if there is a starter guide for newbie on the basis.

Same sentiments.. there is too much info and technical jargon to comprehend.. so far, the info I've gathered is
there are a few kind of boxes from original dreamboxes to clones..
the clones may look the same outside but vary from supplier to supplier internally. The most common ones are the cardless running either on the a8p sim (that can run similar software/firmware to original boxes like the openpi) and the sim2.1.. some of the older boxes are running via cards but the recent ones are cardless..

SGSH runs on cable so pretty common sense Satellite boxes are not for local use..
At the moment, most supplier that advertise their box as SG boxes will work for SH, BUT how long it will work is anyone's guess, even the old birds can't predict.
the only thing that the is most discussed and can get support are the dreambox and their similar clone boxes that are labelled as such in the SGStarhub Digital-Kaos Image threads..
As far as asking about where to buy these boxes from or even getting that correct box that is discussed here is a luck of the draw..

If anyone has info on where to find such boxes, do pm me too..

Only SH N3 boxes but no other box can work independently without external/secondary feeding. Dont listen to China's sales BS. Many r going to cry dealers MIA when N3 comes.

If you bot a box recently, plug in the LAN and look for the IP of yr box from yr Router, If you found the IP of yr box, be it DreamBox, Skybox, iFox, Azfox etc, chances u may b able to rcve external feed, if u cant find box's IP from yr router, the box is going to b useless.
Then, even u hv the IP of Box, it oso need a page for config, some box cant edit server entry bcos FW not included. Too bad, oso useless in N3.,

Brand of box already in my post, support for them, I dont know, its scary bcos Dreambox 500 & 800 takes 1002 pages, Skybox S10, S11, ifox C1, C2 and Azfox Z1 , Z2 i think need 3000pages of post to get them working. There r many other types of box too.....

Yup, when N3 rolls out, it will be a new phase of finding boxes all over again.. it was because of this that I went cheap and bought a fyhd box in this post as a short term thing to play around..no point spending more on a 800HDSE..

I think now I will get a cheap box like dm500c 1st for interim phase. Really boring nothing to do ever since my last box spoilt few mth ago.
Is the DM802se LAN working ? May get this DM802se too if price is as cheap for another rm.

DreamBox MultiMedia (Genuine or clone) 500 and 800 series is the best buy. Both series r well tested for N3 with feeding support.

Why UK mostly cant use DreamBox was bcos the past 2 yrs many prominant Feeders were arrested, the famous 1 was a feeder send via vpn from UK to US then to Philippines then back to UK, they too were tracked down.

                        @ Master Mmouse.
Your r a real MASTER lah, a look at the jpg you know what it is. Nothing new, juz this card reader for full tiers and feed to all my rooms. Why need 4 machines and hv delay in synchronizing 4 problematic clones with different feeder lines. However, they called me old fashion, now it CARDLESS Dreambox!!! Haha... Wait till they know whats coming......
When we meet can show you lah, I hv 2 units on testing, so far my conclusion: it is best using this Quad, fast, accurate and maintainance free. USB connect too.

                        Oh.. Named after you too
