    Advice need for Dreambox please

Hi, I hope I don't make any of you rage with my complete lack of knowledge about this kind of thing, I am not completely computer illiterate but I have only today begun my research into these receiver boxes. I have searched through some of the forums and a lot of the lingo is completely foreign to me. Also hope I don't break any forum rules with this post but I don't think I will.

So I'm from the UK, Northern Ireland to be precise, I no longer wish to pay 70/80 pounds every month for VirginMedia because truthfully I just can not afford it. A friend has Kryptview and has encouraged me to get it. However during my research on it I discovered Dreambox, specifically the DM800HD. I think this box would be more catered to my needs as it is HD and you can record programs, from what I could gather Kryptview does not offer a record feature. Although I am unaware if Dreambox and Kryptview are interchangeable in terms of the television available on them, I know that my friend's Kryptview has pretty much every channel going. So I guess what I am asking for is any UK people to give me a quick review of the box e.g. channels available (I would like as many as possible but really what matters to me are the sports channels), picture quality, HDD size and just general impressions of these boxes. Or if you believe there is a better option for what I want please do let me know. Thank you very much in advance!

Lol, I haven't bought anything yet I'm just researching at the minute. So is the cable dreambox not compatible in the UK?

Ahh ok, thanks for the advice. Don't think I can get a sat one, don't have a working dish so I guess if I'm going to do this I'll need to get a kryptview. Cheers again!

Yeah? I have an old Sky dish from late 2000's but it's not connected, do you think this would work? Well I say it's not connected but my uncle managed to get a FreeSat box hooked up to it for the spare room and all the channels work fine.

Not sure if your old sly dish would be pointing in the right direction. Digicon would know, older sly dishes point towards 19.2 and not 28.2 but fitting a new one or re aligning with a new lnb its not gonna cost you the earth either way, Andy.
