    DM500 FTP to Upload Keys

Hey Guys, I know this question has been asked and answered soo many times but i just cant get it to connect with my dreambox dm500.

Here is what i have done step by step, i have ftp'ed into another box the same model as mine but for some reason cant get this one to work at all.

Ethernet from PC to Router, Ethernet from Dreambox to Router, both going into the different lan sockets on router.

I then checked the ip of pc and it was 192.168.1.2, i then checked the gateway of router and it was 192.168.1.1, i then checked the ip on the dreambox and set it to 192.168.1.3.

Here is the rest of the settings on the dreambox. ]
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0
    Type: LAN
    Nameserver: 192.168.0.2
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1

    DHCP OFF
    ENABLE NETWORK ON
    PORT 80

I then went to FlashFXP and typed in my dreambox ip which is 192.168.1.3 and port as 21 and username as root and password as dreambox and just comes up

    WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 0.9.8i 15 Sep 2008
    [R] Connecting to 192.168.1.3 -> IP=192.168.1.3 PORT=21

I have Digital Kaos v1.1 Image for Dm500 C/S/T Image on my box.

I was told that i had to have the original image on for the ftp to work? Is this correct?

Any help would be much appreciated

Have looked through all threads and none worked

    Thanks Very Much

Are you able to ping the dreambox from your pc? If you type in the ip address of your dreambox in your browser does it connect? I use a program called Foreftp to copy files to my dreambox. Download it and try with your dreambox.

On the dreambox try switching on the DHCP and then check if it receives an ip address from the dreambox.

Ticked the DHCP and then reboot dreambox but still says 192.168.1.3 in the ip address and when trying on internet explorer still comes up the same.

Looks like there could be a problem with the ethernet port on your dreambox or the ethernet cable between the router and the dreambox. You could try changing the cable to see if that makes any difference.

i have the namesever and the gateway both set 192.168.1.1 and use fixed ip .5

As curious123 says it could be a duff ethernet port... btw have you switched off all firewalls on your pc etc?

Just tried it on my laptop which is on Vista and disabled the firewall and still not working.

Also went into the admin panel of the router and went to the DHCP Client List and the name of the laptop is there but the dreambox isnt.

I have a ready made image for this box with all the local settings on it and the channels list etc but the reason im trying to put this image on is because i cannot search for channels on my own image as it gives me an error when searching. Does anyone have an image they can give me with the keys already in with the image?

I have set the nameserver the same as the DNS server for the ISP. Without the nameserver set on my dreambox I cannot connect to the internet. If your router is configured for DHCP and your dreambox is not getting an ip address from the router than I would suspect the ethernet port since you have changed the cable. As nige says check your firewalls.

Do you have a switch between your router and dreambox?
Try to reset your switch then!

                          Try these things

                          Hi Dylan,
Open up a command prompt from your pc (Start -> Run ->cmd if XP etc)

When the the dos prompt window appear - type:
                          ipconfig /all

You should see this towards the bottom of the window:
                          IP Address . . . . 192.186.1.2
                          Subnet Mask. . . 255.255.255.0
                          Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

Use this to confirm that everything is the same apart from IP address.

If the above is okay - check that your router has been configured to include 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 in the LAN settings.

Next from command prompt on PC type:
                          Ping 192.168.1.3

If this is okay - you will see
Pinging 192.168.1.3 with 32 bytes of data:

                          Reply from 192.168.1.3: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

If you see request timed out - try this from a command prompt:
                          ping 192.168.1.1

This should help eliminate the pc as a possible problem.

Try this for now and see what you get.
