dat file

Hi m8s I have just downloaded a 500c image file from downloads section,but once downloaded it is saved as a dat file can this type file be uploaded to
box or does the file format need to be changed.

if file ends in .img its an image file you flash it with Dreamup and null modem cable.
If its .fw2 then its flash wizard file and needs flashed with flashwizard only.

Thanks for the reply bonesy, I understand img and fw2 files but i have downloaded a file
which is tagged as a dreambox 500c img file but once downloaded it shows as a dat file,
which means dreamup or flashwizard progs dont recognise it as a valid filetype.

you could just try renameing the file to .img and try dreamup to flash it
