I just got myself a new set of DM800 HD PVR. Hooked it up to my monitor using the cable that came along with the set. The DVI end connected to the DM and HDMI to the monitor. When eqpt was switch on no signal detected by the monitor for HDMI input. Tried plugging and unpluging the HDMI connector a few time than suddenly signal showed up followed by one of the channel. But the picture color was jaded and there was no sound. Decided to switch off to have my lunch. When powered up eqpt there was the same "no signal" issue. This time the trick of plug/unplug did not work. Anyone can offer some advice as to how to rectify the problem?.

try connect other tv so that you can confirm is your monitor issue for the dm800hd. Extended display identification data (EDID) is a data structure provided by a digital display to describe its capabilities to a video source (e.g. graphics card or set-top box). It is what enables a modern personal computer to know what kinds of monitors are connected to it. EDID is defined by a standard published by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). The EDID includes manufacturer name and serial number, product type, phosphor or filter type, timings supported by the display, display size, luminance data and (for digital displays only) pixel mapping data.
EDID structure versions range from v1.0 to v1.4; all these define upwards-compatible 128-byte structures. EDID structure v2.0 defined a new 256-byte structure, but subsequently has been deprecated and replaced by v1.3.[citation needed] HDMI 1.0 ***8211; 1.3c uses EDID structure v1.3.[1]
DisplayID is a standard targeted to replace EDID and E-EDID extensions with a uniform format suited for both PC monitor and consumer electronics devices.Comment

Manage to connect it to my tv using the hdmi. Yes there was signal and able to view channels though distorted. So looks like I have a EDID problem. Sorry to have sidetrack but how to resolve this?. My monitor is new so likely the source of the problem could be from my PC. How to describe the problem to the repair shop just in case they not familiar with EDID?. Please bear with me know nxt to nothing about pc beside connecting plug and play device.try connect other tv so that you can confirm is your monitor issue for the dm800hd.
