    DM500 Restarts at Green screen

    Hi,

After searching for new channels through Auto Transponder Search, my channels became all mixed up.
So I did a Restore using my remote control and now the PLi startup image keeps refreshing by itself and not responding to my Remote Control.

Now I can't even detect the DB using DCC, IP Address, FXP or putty on my PC.

After reading so many threads here, I believe the only way is to flash a new image using dreamup and null modem cable.
Am I right or is there any other way out of this situation?

Remember to back up your files before flashing
    ie keys, scce etc

I forget to mention that I'm unable to perform backup, unable to login to Telnet/FTP using PC as my supplier had changed the login Name (root) and Password (dreambox). Including the Setup pin. But I managed to guess the right Pin to do a auto scan.

If in this case, will I still able to back up my keys, scce?

If you can still mount a USB drive maybe you can back up your keys and scsc, I think.

It should not be working for all now, not depending on image, etc

That's why. Itchy backside... Now my DM died on me. Use dreamup with Null modem cable also can't detect. Stays at "connection prepared. now turn on your dreambox" I guess that is the price for playing with transponder any any oh how Restore... I tried reading few thread. Did not see any successful recovery method. Any Master here can guide?

How do you define "old"? I had been using my xp motherboard for the past 5 years. Reformat 3 years ago. Consider old?

Do you really need to back up var//keys/scce///these can be found and ftp,d back once your box has been repaired...if this is a dm500c however then your configs might have to be restored tho depending what you have in there and of course if you have no other way to retrieve that..we cant talk about what might be in your configs and why on here so look into what i mean and make a plan.

If all is saved or recoverable then the first thing to do is try a factory reset on your box.

Which image is on your box///open pli?

Also which version of dreamup are you using and do you have another null modem lead to eliminate one probable cause of your dreamup flashing failure..

The psu units for all dreamboxes even official units are notoriously poor but its mostly the amperage that is affected on the actual psu itself and not the voltage however i suspect this is a software related issue but it wont do any harm in trying anther working psu.
