DM500 DM500c Random Reboot

Hi all.
I am trying to help a friend resolve a problem he has started to experience with his DM500c.
He can be sat watching it for a few hours,or a few minutes,and the box starts to act up.
For example - the picture will go all pixelated,the sound will go all scratchy and whistle.Then the box will simply shut down and reboot itself.
This can happen once a day or up to twenty plus times a day.Needless to say my friend has got very peed off with this and has disconnected it completely and gone back to his vermin media set up,he would however like the DM500c back up and running if possible.Is it a simple "replace the cam" job or something more involved ?
Anyone have any ideas ?

u can download new cams from the d/k image from the server OR wipe erase the image thats already on it then try reflashing it ,what image is on the 500c just now?

The only info i can find as to the image on the box says -- Digital Worldz v1.6.
Mean anything ?

yea i know that image its a older one ryt enough i think they have 2.1 out or something like that now.why not try the DK image on it to see how it performs ,what u got to lose. in images section>>Digital Kaos - Downloads - Dreambox if your in pure area ntl glasgow i can give u my working DK image
