Newbie! - Bought second hand box

Well the problem is its not technically my mates its his mothers and she was already getting bitchy for me poking around in her shit ... what if I flash mine with the lastest DK image?
and still Why did mine cut off? is it something to do with the image?

ok i'm presuming you know how to ftp since you said you ftp'd keys over.

follow these instructions

1) download dk 1.1 from here Digital Kaos - Downloads - Digital Kaos v1.1 Image for Dm500 C/S/T

2) flash dk 1.1 to dreambox either using dreamup or telnet, dreamup is easier for newbies.

3) scan for channels

4) download keys from here RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

5) ftp just the contents of var/keys to the var/keys folder or your dreambox

6)if anything is in var/scce on your dreambox delete them

7) now download the nagra a/u fix from here RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

8) ftp over the contents to var/scce

9) go to sky sports 1

10) Hold INFO for more than 3 secs to bring up EMU manager, press OK.Wait....... then picture should clear

Krazylegz: Love the quick guide, but have a question. Does the firmware matter. I've got this DreamGaza thing on my DM500S. Will I need to flash it with DK in order to get everything working?

no mate just forward to the bit of downloading keys and au fix these keys ande roms work on any image aslong as the image you have on the box has a emu installed

Keys and ROMS inside images?

I've downloaded that file you link to, but it's an image which I assume is the image of the firmware which also contains the roms/keys. How do I extract the ROMS and such from the image. I'm on a MAC so I'm not sure to use for this..

no mate.

the image is in the first link and is FTA, meaning there is no keys or roms in it, hence the need for the other 2 links.

the keys and roms are both rapidshare links once downloaded you will need to extract the folders using winrar or another similar program.
