    DM500 Reflash problems with DreamUP

    Hey guys,

    Would appreciate any input here.

Have a DM500 (actually it's a blackbox 888 or something) and long time ago, it could power on but there was nothing on screen, all black.

Thanks to DBTraitor's help long ago, it got revived via a reflash (yay).

Then, this same box went into storage for a long time as there was no need for it (got the DM800HD). Now, taking it out again, the same problem has occurred. It's like the box is angry for not having been used.

SO, I try to reflash using DreamUp and null modem cable and the entire flashing process goes off without a hitch. Storybook flashing.

Problem: first time, the network detects the box but DBedit can't connect to it. Fine, I revoke the IP add hoping the system will reassign. But subsequently, the box can't register itself onto my network.

SO, I reflash again, same problem.

Connect the box to the TV, still all black (confused, since the flashing process went smoothly shouldn't I at least see a menu even if the keys haven't been loaded in?).

SO, I reflash using a different image.

SAME problem. All black, not registered on network.

Question: Is this box really GGed? Or is there something else I can try?

Appreciate all help from masters here

    Very simple
You should go into your menu/system settings/network and disable the DHCP
    Then manually assign an ip
Use that IP for your ftp login
A wise man learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn more from a wise answer.

Thanks bro. Still doesn't work. Flash went fine but nothing happens, ethernet port doesn't light up. Damn. Not sure if it's worth salvaging..
