Guys we shouldn't be discussing safe or not safe, buy or not buy etc.
Members from the Sats Section will laugh at us jokers. We should be looking at the bigger picture, not petty issues. Since the day you buy the box, you already know its not legal. So far I have not heard of real cases where user is caught and fine.

Other countries are on N3 for couple of years and they have a workaround solutions and they are still surviving.

Subscribe to basic plan does not make you any safer. Just be discreet about it. For your info, there isn't much SH can do now except to upgrade their system. Their current system can't trace you because its a one way incoming, our box does not send a signal back to them. Hope it clarifies.

Relax SG brudders just watch the box till it dies off... relax

Haha! i totally agree with this. When you buy the box u already know that you are liable of the consequences that follows up if you are apprehended.

Bro you mean they upgrade their system then they can catch? Or just change the encryption key? But the signal is still one way. Even if they have a system and a box that travels both ways, they still can't catch right? Because a BB is a decoder, nothing is sent out. Unless they change the way they are transmitting the signal out, but they don't own the signal right? I mean, it's free to air, they just change the encryption key, but unable to control which signal they want to send to.

Our BB is only equipped with a TV tuner card and of course necessary hardware to do decryption, so it just receive signal from the cable point. Unlike those H***t***on where it's a DVB-C tuner with built-in DOCSIS modem therefore able to do 2-way.

Bro, don't ask question about catching or not.

If you are so so so so soooooo afraid. Throw the setbox into ur store room.

Don't think people should be focus about this.

Should concentrate on N3, do your homework and preparation.

Two years ago, where my friend bought a box not from Dreambox, where the old days still uses a card to decode the encryption on a box. My friend got a free copy of Straits Times with a StarHub application forms stapled on. He was so afraid that he dispose the box and never wanna buy any decoder box from then on, till now...but with a twist. He subscribe a basic tier and bought a DreamBox DM500 and has been happy to-date.

Beside BPL, which could view online. There won't be much withdrawal effects for non-subscibers and subscribers, life after N1.

Since days of card-based STB, 3-4 years ago, suffered many card expiry, i had already looked out for alternative. I subscribed to a yearly China-based VPN service, which had many server farms in Asia, USA, Europe.

To me, IPTV is the only feasible.solution.

Beside able to access many MDA-blocked "seafood" channels, i could access HD quality free next-day broadcast of major dramas via HULU.COM, and UK documentaries n shows via iview. Recently Korean, Taiwanese and Hongkong hottest drama available via azdrama.

Above could cover most of the contents *hub carries.

FYI, VPN make life easier online. BT, ED2K, XUNLEI all ultra fast.

No more overly subscribed ip range while using FILE HOSTING SERVICE, click and u had a new IP from another region, continue downloading..

Yearly subscription about S$40-80, depending on providers.

Dont be narrow minded, look out of the box.

                    My two cents worth..

PS: You would need a VPN router for ur IPTV hardware.

The following scenario is going to happen:

Planned migration of HD channels to N3, which means current HD channels including BPL cannot be viewed anymore. Basically DM800 and DM800SE is no different from DM500 when the time comes. This will happen very soon, since N3 signal are currently pumped together with N1, just need to turn it off, and all HD channels will be off limits. Migration of SD channels from N1 to N3 will come at a later stage.

                      Life after N3:

                      1. For those who have the N3 cards, learn what you can do with the cards, you'll be doing yourself a big favour by reading what those sat people are doing.

                      2. Similarly, I believe the China people will run a pay only c/s. You will need to connect to their server, how reliable it is I won't know, but since your box will be exposed to the internet, you never know who's monitoring the traffic. Good luck.

                      3. I also believe some altruistic people among us will try running public c/s. Good luck how long it will last before it will be taken down. With the number of connections, freezing pictures will be common occurenece, if any is brave enough to try.

Bro, can guide me the fundamental steps or any links that I can learn from? No worries, I do not need to hand hold all the way, just need a little more kickstarter.

I actually only want to watch the sports and documentaries + movies. Rest of other I don't watch.
