There are no channels on the transponder frequency that used to be Setanta in your area.

All you can do is try a network scan:

    1) Switch to a root channel (DL *******)
    2) Press menu, Setup (5), Service Searching (2), Manual Transponder Scan (2)
    3) Tick the INV box
    4) Tick the Network Scan box
    5) Press scan (green)

Wait 10 mins or so until scan finishes.

    Check your ALL SERVICES list.

This is an alphabetical list which should start with 4Music, Adult Channel etc. etc.

If you have any channels listed BEFORE 4Music select one and wait a while (even if there is no picture). Bring up the ALL SERVICES list and it should have updated.

Repeat until 4Music is the top channel.
I dunno about step (1) but the rest is sound.

I mean switch to a channel which starts with the letters "DL"

        i.e. "DL 2100 Samsung G1"

There will be no TV on this channel, but by switching to that channel you setup the Transponder frequency to one that should contain all the PIS information about how to find all other Transponders.

I never do Automatic scans, I've always done network scans.

A network scan looks at the NIT/PAT/PMT tables for the current Transponder and tries to find all other transponders and their corresponding channels from this data. If the NIT/PAT/PMT tables are correct, it should be easy for it to find all channels.

I had never heard of turning to a "root channel" before performing a network scan but I read about it this week.

It makes sense, if you perform network search from the transponder with say "BBC One" it has no knowledge of one or two transponders.

" I mean switch to a channel which starts with the letters "DL".

Yes I guess. Are the channels are listed differently in different regions?

                  Glad it worked.

Channel scanning software is not great in all Enigma images I have tried, especially on VirginMedia.

I think it is because VM is a closed network, no-one should be using anything but their boxes and so they do not need to follow the spec 100%.

Or it could just be shit code in Enigma that never gets updated.

I agree Alexh, but what is the best image then for VM? im using PLi, it works ok, get 99% of the channels i think, but the EPG doesnt seem to cache correctly.

I am thinking about moving image but have no idea which to try out now,

                    i got a DM800

How long is a piece of string?

From what I can tell all images are based on one of two Set-top-box code bases : Enigma and Neutrino.

Then there are 10's of different images of each and different builds of these images for different boxes.

Most have just been slightly customised to add gfx etc. but some have added value. Determining what that is, for each build, is difficult.

I am pretty sure there are patches which must be made to cable builds before they will work on VM. What they are and what they do I dunno.

I thought that PLi was not an image but was the name of a team which makes images?

On VM? You got more money than sense.

If you have a DM800 then you got PLi Enigma2 Jade2?

But there is only one VM HD channel and that is not on all the time. By the time HD is on VM, prices will have dropped so much you could have bought a DM500C while you were waiting, then get a DM800 and still have change.

Non AFAIK. Enigma2 or nothing for DM800.
