SG Users: DM802HD or MVHD800C-VI?

Hi,

I would like to get some opinions from Singapore users on which cable box to get.

I am quite new to this and would like to know which is a better box.

From my minimal understanding, MVHD800C-VI is a plug and play media box, without the capability to flash custom image.

As for DM802HD, users are able to flash update image to overcome any deterrence from the cable company.

Need some inputs from you guys to help me in deciding which box to purchase.

tink both r plug n play. dun buy now as N3 started u'll not be able to view anything once n3 migration completes. better 2 wait till permanent solution is avail.

The MVHD series are basically modelled after the FYHD, and known to have issue with power supply unit.

I had tried both, and I still prefer the smaller footprint DM802SE.

So far, the other cheaper model are the LY STAR which would be the cheapest HD sets available in the market, much cheaper than Dreambox DM500C.
Had a fair share of issue with stability with PSU. Modelled after the Openbox C4S.
Priced about 2x the SH minimum basic plus subscription. it's still a bargain.

N3 probably hit the HD channels, and just for the SD channels worth your late investment.

thanks guys. even though n3 is coming, i'll put my bet that these box will still work when n3 is introduced.

I looked through taobao and seems that they do not have any dm800se. they only carry dm802hd, which you said it's a clone.

I managed to find dm800hd se on aliexpress where the price is more than thrice the price of the knockoff on taobao.

may I ask whether these knockoff are able to function exactly like those on aliexpress?

the seller for dm800hd se on aliexpress are located in china as well, and dreambox multimedia is a german company. this makes it a little weird, on how are we able to get the original box, unless it is coming from germany.

Its not advisable to buy the box now as SH n3 encryption has taken effect on (BPL).
Until there is a permanent solution to it, for now my advise is to hold your purchase to a later date this year

SH mentioned in the papers that their new system will kill all the illegal box. However, that is only short term. There is always workaround solutions.
