DM500 dream up flashing problem

hi guys im a newbie to here and to this so here it goes hope someone can help i will give as much info as possable

ok i purchased my dreambox 500c from a repuatable site
open up plug it has an enigma menu come up but saying no service found then i kinda worked out i need to flash the box so i downloaded all the files to start pluged in the null modem cable to pc installed dream up v1.3.4.4 so far so good click conect with the power off on the box it said (connection prepeared now switch on dreambox) so i did then it said (initating flash loader upload ) then it says (upload complete waiting for acknoledge)and it just hangs there dosnt do anything else ive checked cables done reboots and the all that stuff im really stuck any help would be really appreciated thanks.

hi mate im a newbie also this image that is on the box you sure you need to reflash and not configure the image instead b4 thinking about a reflash i also recently purchased a 600 and made similiar mistakes jr_419

You should be able to scan on the already installed image. Try flashing with flashwizard using crossover cable. Also do you have a serial port on your pc/laptop or using usb serial connection? Make sure the correct com port is chosen ie com1.

Try a different image m8. You should be able to flash image and sca n for channels.Make sure firewalls are off.

hi guys thanks for help so far i am using a null modem serial cable connected direct to pc on com 1 and all firwalls turned off i only thought i might need to flash coz i did i transponder scan it dosent find any channels at all so assumed i need to flash with another image maybe thers something else i need to do i dont know im really stressed at moment please helllllp meeee!!!!!!

the massage i see on tv screen in enigma ...sevice could not be found at top and at bottom no epg avalable ...

what image are you tryin to flash with dreamUp?
Have you tried dk_v1.1.img ? has all the cables.xml and do a brutforce scan...

thats the problem i cant get to the flash any image in dream up keeps sayin (upload complete waiting for acknoledge)and it just hangs there ..... dunno what to do

Ok, just did this 15 mins ago and not for the 1st time..
I'm using dreamup V1.2.2.0 for years with no probs.
- connect null modem cable to com port on pc & dbox
- select serial port com1 on DU and click connect - make sure use network is not selected
- power up the dbox and DU & dbox should sync straight away
- click flash erase first as i'd say ur current one is knackered
- when complete, click flash on DU
- on DU browse to location of dk_v1.1.img file (make sure it is a *.img file) from the downloads section

This should flash the dk image for you... see if u get this far?

ok thanks wifiman i tried this version and im getting furthere now but still problems got as far as ping result ok box is alive and speaking to us then i clicked flash erase 1st like you said but it keeps saying error reseting lock bits ? what to do next ...

treid 3 deffrent versions of dream up and says the same thing it wont get pass this stage ...im just trying to flash any image that will hopefully get the box working im tryin to flash it with dk_v1.1.img file first ...im really stuck dont know what to do .

could be a problem with your null modem cable, best bet is to try ftp method or try another null modem if you got one

ok im trying out this ftp methoud using flashfxp i loged into the dbox 500c no problem with ip address
i saw the var folder click in the var folder now i cant see the keys folder or scce folder ? here are the list of folders i can see under var folder

etc
log
mnt
run
tuxbox
tmp
.init (file)

in this order cant see a keys folder
help what to do now guys ?

you missing about 4 folders there mate, dont know where to, it may need a reflash to get them back
