    DM500 Help please missing channels

    Hi,

I've been reading this forum and fiddleing with my dreambox for a few days now, I've found this site very useful so thanks to everyone for that.

However I have one last problem that i can't solve, How do I get the redhot channels to work ?

I've had them working before on a starview so I know that they are hidden data channels, and I've tried the various bouquet settings from different posts on this forum, but still
I get the 'no service on this channel' (or similar) message.

I'm in the midlands - does anyone have the correct channel settings or if anyone can offer any other advice that would be most kind. I have had other bouquet files working so I know I'm configuring everything correctly.

    Thanks
    m.

Bouquets are just saved freqs.. once a freq changes you have to usually go edit the bouquet yourself... much like changing your phone book when you realise alot of numbers you have are dead and you have to replace with new ones

Thats why they vary from area to area.. pretty hard to find someone with all the new ones and from your area

Find the all chnls list (select button then red) and have a good flick through it see if you can find the chnls your missing... if not then try scanning again BRUTEFORCE

If you pick them up again after a scan(theyll be in the all chnls list)... use the service menu to add them into bouquets..(highlight a chnl and press MENU button to bring up service menu)

        Just not true.

Try a manual network scan and they will appear in your "All services" list.

Use dreamboxedit to retrieve your bouquets from your dm500 to your pc. Find Adult Bouquets on your pc in your bouquets and use a text editor to edit the bouquet. Add the following info into your Adult about transponders into your boquets.

          #SERVICE: 1:0:1:62e:15:f020:ffff0000:0:0:0:
          #DESCRIPTION: Red Hot Amateur

Tried adding these settings to the Adult Bouquet and still no joy - just doesn't seem to be locking on to any video or audio pids, if that is the correct term !! ... I tried a manual scan but there are a lot of settings and I'm not sure what to set.

The advertising channels are there and the others just say 'no service found' I've tried every channel on the box, including the 'SID ...' ones and nothing, used to get the services on StarView so don't understand why this superior box can't find em, any help appreciated .... although not sure whats left to try !!
Thanks to everyone so far !! .... not sure it's worth the effort - however it's like a challenge now !!

            Cheers
            W

Interesting stuff but I'm almost sure it is not correct. Bouquet entries contain region specific information. Entries from one area of the country will probably not work in another area.

              FYI:

The numbers above (e.g. 1:0:1:62e:15:f020:ffff0000:0:0:0:) have the following format:

              1:0:<Type>:<ServiceID>:<TransportStreamID>:<OriginalNetworkID>:<Namespace>:0:0:0:

SID, TSID, ONID are all region specific and so non transferable.

I agree with what you are saying but I found that once I copied the following cables.xml and did a bruteforce scan I got all the channels.
                Attached Files

That is good advice. The cable.xml file contains a list of transponder frequencies to try during an Automatic Scan. The default cables.xml included with most images has only a limited set, far from every possible frequency, to reduce the scan time.

By uploading a new one (presumably with more frequencies in the Brute Force section) makes it possible to find the missing transponder and its channels.

However the bit about using dreamboxedit to update bouquets to add missing channels should be forgotton

Sorry but have to disagree. You need dreamboxedit to copy the channels to your pc. You then need a text editor to edit the bouquet list to paste the transponder information into your bouquets and then you need dreamboxedit to send your edited channels to your dreambox.

But the transponder information you suggest we to paste into our bouquets is I fear unique to one specific area of the country. I really don't think it is going to work unless someone lives in the area that data is from?

                      No?

As an experiment I transferred the bouquet information from my Dreambox (Enigma DW2.1)

(I've added the DESCRIPTIONS manually to this post as they were not in my Bouquet)

As you can see they are nothing like the ones published earlier, almost certainly because I'm in a different region to mrdude.

Not disagreeing with anything you are saying m8 but it works for me on my box. Why not try what I am saying and if it doesn't work than you proved your point.

                            Tried it, doesn't work.

All I get is a bouquet containing the correct number of channels, each saying "(removed service)". If you select any they display no picture and bring up a pop-up GUI window saying "service not found".

Which is exactly what I would expect.

Must be a coincidence that you live in the same region as mrdude.

Mr. dude and I are at opposite ends of the country. Well thanks for giving it a try shame it didn't work.
