DM500C - Can watch FTA Channels & 888 Only. Rest of Channels cant watch.

Need some help from the experts here.....

Happened Suddenly over Xmas Eve. Everything was ok...

Xmas day, only the Free to Air Channels & KTV 888 working.

    Thought SH pulled the plug.

Tried to reflash the PLi image and everything................But still the same issue.

So now watch FTA on it.

    Any advice ?? Thanks.

Perhap they had already disconnect your house antenna from *Hub antenna feed, now you are back on fishbone antenna.

          Hi Hi.

          Thanks for reading my post.

          a) I am linked via the Cable Network, not the Antenna......BTW, KTV888 is also working. So cant be taken offline.

          b) I followed an instruction from a friend who helped to flash my box previously. Followed his instructions to the T.

          Part A : Reflash Image
          - Downloaded the image and Used WinSCP to ftp the image into the "/tmp" directory
          - Used telnet and executed the "cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot" command

Part B : Updating of Channels
          - Downloaded Dreambox Edit and Channel List (2 folders inside, Picon and SGSH 25052012 E1 500C)
          - Followed the instruction to use Dreambox edit and transfer the Channel List into it.

Did I miss out anything ??

Or is there other image/channel list which I can use ? Thanks.

you miss a lot of things hahahaa
using the telnet method may wipe out your keys and scce
if you flash using null modem cable, probably u wont have so much problem

                  Just a OT question,

If i bring a legal SH STB to another address that is different from the registered one.

Would SH be able to track it down ?

They dont hv to track. Box may or may not worked if away from the registered address. ie boxes r District 'LOCKED'. Same district shud b ok.
The trouble comes when u hv to reactivate the box and they may warn u, charge u, panelty payment... etc.
Box will die after sometime if away from registered address.

                      Bro jatrophaseed, you are right.

My personal experience with a legal box from a different address. (both addresses belongs to me and I am actually the account holder for the cable TV as well...)

Same district (ie, 2 streets away) The legal STB (Cisco) seems to have a sync issue at the different address but able to see all the channels I subscribed to for a whole............but after a certain period of time, all channels unable to see.

But after bringing the box back to the registered address, once the sync is connected, everything is back to normal. Thus i suspect the box have an auto-timeout if it is unable to sync with the server after a period of time.

Interestingly, I have another friend living in the north-east area, brought his STB to his mum's place in AMK.....have no issues at all.

                          My opinion.
New estate is still expanding, so their district code not confirmed, that why box to new district works while established town like AMK, TP, TAMPINES etc wont worked.

I think that is becos of the entitlement period ran out on the card, reason is becos u off the box completely. SH will advice u not to do so, they will ask u to always put the box on standby (so that the card will update. this they wont tell u).u can put the legit card on other cams to do the job also.

i am quite skeptical abt the area code thing from empirical evidence. Reactivation fee is charged when u fail to pay bill for a prolonged period leading to a disruption of service, then they will ask u to pay reactivation fee.

Not really entitlement expiry. i read the card with all tiers gone when put to other address. Also all entitlemt not expired, oso cant decrypt chn. Other cams, do it at yr own risk, i hv seen such method wipe out the IRD as well.
