    DM600 Hard Disc failure

    Hi guys,

I'm a new user in this forum.
I came across it while browsing on internet searching solutions on some issues regarding my Dreambox DM60.
There are several months since I've started using Dreambox. Recently I have installed an internal hdd (Western digital scorpio blue 2,5" 320gb). I was able to record & later view different programs easily. But 2-3 days ago, while watching tv (TV mode), dreambox started giving strange messages (failure to record, file error etc) an then, after several hours, dreambox did not recognise any more the hdd.
This is a strange situation because in main menu: hard disc setup: the hdd device is recognised (status:initialised but unknown file system) while If I try to record a message is givenfailure to rec due to inaccesible storage). File programms recorded have been disappeared also.

Anyone cann help me? Is there a chance these file programms recorded have not been deleted already?

    Thnx in advance!

Although its not my specialist area i'd say hdd got too hot, i had the same problem with my NAS raid array a few weeks ago, i re-formatted it and rebuilt the array and it worked fine, my NAS told me the hdd was unreadable...

If it was a windows device it'd come with some utill to fix the problem but standalone devices aren't as easy...

I'd look for an option to reformat, if that doesn't work connect it to a windows machine and try to access the device (you'll probably need to use the Disk Management Snapin, Start --> Run --> compmgmt.msc --> Disk Management (left)) If you can't even format it in windows then i'd say the drive needs replacing..
